📝 Review
Pagongsan Mountain in Daegu is a tourist destination that seamlessly blends nature and history. The moment I set foot on this site, I was immediately struck by the vast expanse of the mountain. More than just a mountain, it's a museum steeped in millennia of history, imbued with the legacy of Buddhism, the dynasty, and local beliefs.
I chose to ascend by cable car. As the cable car slowly ascended, the green forests and distant city unfolded, and my heart relaxed. Autumn is especially captivating, with the reds and oranges of the maple leaves interwoven like a colorful carpet woven by nature itself. As the cable car reached the summit, a cool breeze caressed my face, and the air was crisp and refreshing, giving me a sense of escaping the hustle and bustle of life. Palgongsan is known as the "Holy Mountain" because of its deep Buddhist roots. During the Silla period, it was a center of Buddhism. What impressed me most were the Donghwasa Temple and its massive seated stone Buddha statue. Standing before the statue, I felt a quiet yet powerful presence, and a sense of awe welled up within me. The stone Buddha, weathered by the elements, remains majestic, as if quietly guarding the mountains and the hearts of its inhabitants.
Beyond its cultural heritage, Palgongsan's natural beauty is even more unforgettable. The hiking trails are well-planned, making them accessible even to non-experienced hikers. As you walk, you'll occasionally hear birdsong intermingle with the sound of the wind, and the rustling of fallen leaves beneath your feet is a pleasant companion. When you feel tired, you can rest for a moment in the mountain pavilions or teahouses, offering a cup of hot tea. This atmosphere makes time seem to slow down.
I also met several local hikers on the mountainside. They enthusiastically shared the best spots for photographing the autumn leaves and even offered me homemade perilla rice balls. This natural, human touch adds a touch of warmth to a trip to Palgongsan.
It's worth noting that Palgongsan isn't just perfect for daytime exploration; dusk is even more captivating. As the setting sun casts a shadow over the mountains, the sky gradually shifts from orange to purple, like a natural ink painting. Looking down at downtown Daegu at this hour, the twinkling lights intertwine with the fading glow, a breathtaking sight.
Overall, Palgongsan is a place that blends natural beauty with spiritual solace. For those who enjoy hiking, there are challenging trails; for those interested in culture and history, the Buddhist ruins will immerse you; and for those simply looking for a place to relax and gaze at the city, the cable car and observation deck also cater to your needs.
This trip to Palgongsan deeply impressed me that "travel isn't just about seeing the sights; it's about engaging with one's soul." I descended the mountain feeling happy and at peace, feeling that I had not only witnessed the splendor of Daegu but also found inner peace amidst the Buddhist statues and mountain scenery. Palgongsan is absolutely worth a visit for every traveler. #Pagongsan #DaeguAttractions #DaeguMust-VisitAttractions #DaeguMust-VisitAttractions #대구팔공산카페 #대구 #팔공산
