This building, originally constructed in 1919, was formerly known as "Korea House," a venue for experiencing Korean culture and hosting weddings. After being relocated closer to Jongno Avenue, it now features a courtyard and inner garden, making it a popular tourist attraction in Daegu's Modern Alley. Even tour groups make it a point to stop here for photos.
The front building boasts a fresh and unique charm, with a beam marked "February 2, 1919" as a reminder of its history. Large windows allow ample natural light, while the wooden textures create a warm and inviting atmosphere. In addition to seating areas, the window sills are designed like bay windows, where visitors can relax on cushions and enjoy the view of the historic house.
The most enchanting spot is the courtyard, where an ancient well has been preserved. The space between the front and rear buildings allows for a breezy outdoor experience, letting visitors appreciate the old house's charm without feeling overheated. The rear building retains the traditional lattice panels, which can be opened for sunlight or closed for privacy.
Complementing the historic ambiance, the Starbucks here offers items with a Korean touch, such as thermos cups inspired by traditional shell-inlay craftsmanship. These items exude a distinctly Korean aesthetic. While food isn't highlighted in this description, the location also features adorable limited-edition cakes.
