Dali's Panxi S-Ban is known as one of the most beautiful cycling routes along Erhai Lake. Built along Huanhai West Road, it hugs the Erhai Lake coastline. Its most distinctive feature is its winding S-shaped road, accompanied by endless views of the lake and distant mountains. Every turn reveals the breathtaking blue of Erhai Lake. Whether you prefer a free-spirited, unrestrained ride or a slow, present moment, this route offers a sense of solace. Cycling feels like stepping into a painting, letting your worries fade away.

The most beautiful moment is reaching the first S-shaped bend, when Erhai Lake suddenly opens up before your eyes. The water shimmers in the sunlight, and with the Cangshan Mountains in the distance, it's a perfect photo opportunity. Each section offers a different view, creating a more layered experience than a straight-line ride along the lake.

A must-try is cycling. Renting a bicycle is recommended (most inns along the route offer rentals). The route is flat and easy for even beginners. Recommended photo spots include the first S-shaped bend, the white stone railings along the shore of Erhai Lake, the lakeside reflections, and the golden sunset. If you have some free time, you can relax on the grass by the lake and feel the breeze from Erhai Lake.

1. It's best to ride in the morning or evening to see the lake's colors at their most beautiful, and avoid the direct midday sun.
2. Bring plenty of sun protection (hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen), as the UV rays near Erhai Lake are strong.
