The ancient Qin-Zhao Alliance Terrace is located 1 kilometer southwest of Mianchi County, Sanmenxia City, Henan Province, on a terrace where the Mianshui and Yanghe Rivers converge. It is less than 10 kilometers from the Yimei Group headquarters and is located at the entrance to a PLA military camp stationed in Mianchi. "Engagement Terrace Sunset" is one of the eight scenic spots in Mianchi.
In 279 BC, King Zhaoxiang of Qin sent messengers to King Huiwen of Zhao, proposing a meeting at Mianchi to reconcile the two nations. Accompanying the king was Lin Xiangru, a senior official of Zhao. During a banquet with the king of Zhao, the king of Qin coerced the king into playing the qin (a qin), and ordered the historian to record this in the Qin annals, causing great embarrassment to the king. Lin Xiangru, with righteous indignation, then urged the king of Qin to play the drum (a gu), and also ordered the Zhao historian to record this in the Zhao annals. Qin officials refused to comply and demanded that Zhao cede 15 cities to the king of Qin for his birthday. Lin Xiangru, in turn, demanded that Qin cede its capital, Xianyang, to the king of Zhao. This tit-for-tat exchange of words and sharp words continued until the banquet ended, with the king of Qin unable to gain any advantage and ultimately reconciling with the king of Zhao. To signify the cessation of hostilities, soldiers from both sides buried their weapons in the dirt as a gesture of friendship, thus forming the platform for the meeting.
