A Port of Lushun, half a step into China's modern history❗
Lushun, located at the southernmost tip of the Liaodong Peninsula, is a living textbook of modern Chinese history📖. After the Opium War in 1840, this place became the focus of coveted by the great powers. In the 1880s, Li Hongzhang built the Beiyang Navy Base here, making it a military stronghold, but it also attracted war. During the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, the Japanese army committed a brutal massacre here; after the defeat, Lushun was first forcibly leased to Tsarist Russia, and then became a battlefield during the Russo-Japanese War. After that, Japan occupied it for 40 years, and it was not until 1955 that it officially returned to the embrace of the motherland, witnessing countless vicissitudes of life.
