Damnoen Saduak Floating Market + Maeklong Railway Train Tour

Here are two recommended itineraries for those planning to visit Bangkok and want to spend a little over half a day experiencing the city's vibrant atmosphere ☀️🤩

🚉🚂 Maeklong Railway Train Tour: Watching the train pass through the market is fascinating. Vendors skillfully and calmly pack up their goods, while tourists eagerly capture the scene with their phones. You'll also see tourists taking selfies with the train 😆. The number of tourists here is overwhelming, and I truly admire the train drivers XD. At the front of the market, you can find train-shaped popsicles—perfect for cooling off in Bangkok's scorching heat!

🛶 Damnoen Saduak Floating Market: This was my first visit, and it felt genuinely local. Riding the boat was thrilling, especially when the boatman sped up, making it feel like a flat-water rafting adventure—quick, refreshing, and a bit splashy. However, when the boat slowed down, the midday heat was quite intense 😂😂. I even saw boatmen rowing manually instead of using motorized boats—such a physically demanding task, truly admirable!

This scene reminds me of the suspenseful thriller movie 'Bangkok Dangerous'!

This time, I chose to visit Damnoen Saduak, which boasts a history of 145 years. However, it has become increasingly commercialized and tourist-oriented. Many items sold here can be found at non-tourist night markets, like the popular Save One Go Market. Prices here are often not clearly marked, and vendors tend to quote higher prices if they perceive you as a tourist. Your bargaining skills will come in handy here 🤣🤣🤣. Generally, it's not recommended to inquire about items without marked prices, as boatmen might stop the boat, assuming you're interested in buying something.
