📍Amazing project: Danjiangkou Hydropower Station
Danjiangkou Reservoir is a large artificial lake located in the middle and upper reaches of the Han River. It took 15 years to build the Danjiangkou Reservoir after it was started in 1958. This project was not easy. It is 1,432 kilometers long. At that time, there was no heavy equipment to assist. 100,000 migrant workers gathered at the site. Basically, they relied on a shoulder pole and a pair of hands to start the main project construction in a primitive way, overcoming extremely difficult natural and material conditions.
Danjiangkou Reservoir is a great project of the middle line of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project. The water quality of the reservoir has reached the national first-class drinking water standard and is a high-quality water source for many brands of drinking water. The South-to-North Water Diversion Project spans four provinces, allowing Beijingers to drink water from Danjiangkou, Shiyan, Hubei. Danjiangkou Dam is located in the urban area of Danjiangkou, and is also a national water conservancy scenic spot with the theme of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project.
If you come to Danjiangkou to visit the Danjiangkou Water Conservancy Hub, you must take the scenic tour bus to the 1766 viewing platform, where you can see the tranquil and picturesque beauty of the reservoir.
In the morning, visit the water conservancy hub, and in the afternoon, you can drive to visit the Thousand Island Gallery of the reservoir. Although the weather was bad when I went there, the looming water island and the Wudang Mountain in the distance were very beautiful.
