As a mom from Hubei settled in Hangzhou, every time I take my child back to Hubei, I want to discover hidden gems! This time, I finally took my child to check out Wudang Mountain and realized it’s seriously an underrated family-friendly summer retreat ❤️ “Mist wraps the clouds around the green peaks, visitors stroll freely in a painting.” Walking with kids in the mountains feels like stepping into a fairyland from an ancient poem~
📝|Moms, save this! Gather your besties and kids, a direct 2-hour flight gets you there, 3 days 2 nights of fun without tiring mom👇
Wudang Mountain is no ordinary mountain! Known as the “Great Mountain Wudang,” it’s even more spiritual and elegant than the famous Three Mountains and Five Sacred Mountains~ No artificial smoke, just natural fairy aura. It’s super cool in summer, with fresh herbal scents in the air, making it easier for kids to breathe🌿
📍|Wudang Mountain, Shiyan, Hubei
✈️|Fly direct with kids to “Shiyan Wudang Mountain Airport,” just a 30-minute taxi ride from the airport, no long travel needed
🚂|Take the high-speed train to “Wudangshan West Station,” convenient transport after arrival, and kids can enjoy the scenic views along the way
🏨|Highly recommend staying at “Benlai Homestay” on the mountain! Watch stars with kids at night, and enjoy the golden summit’s sea of clouds and sunset in the morning—super healing family time
🎫|264 RMB / person (includes shuttle bus)! The best part is unlimited entry to the scenic area after ticket purchase, shuttle buses are free to ride, so no need to buy tickets repeatedly—super hassle-free with kids
🚠|Cable car to the Golden Summit requires an extra ticket; it’s recommended to take the cable car up with kids to save energy for other spots

🌄|【Must-Visit Family Spots Kids Will Love!】
1⃣️ Golden Summit: The 600+ year-old gilded copper hall is breathtaking! At over 1600 meters elevation, it’s super cool in summer🧊 Stand with kids on the summit to see the 72 peaks of Wudang and tell them about ancient architecture—learning while playing
2⃣️ Zixiao Palace: A Ming Dynasty architectural complex preserved to this day, it looks like it’s surrounded by purple mist in the sunlight. Kids will ask, “Mom, is this a fairyland?”—majestic and great for atmospheric photos
3⃣️ Nanyan Palace: Over 700 years old cliffside buildings! Show kids the dragon-head incense burner, the walls of longevity and health blessings, and take family photos with the cliffside peach wood sword📷 Teach kids to read the inscriptions on the steles—very meaningful
4⃣️ Taizi Slope: “The same red walls as the Forbidden City” are perfect for photos! The winding Yellow River wall is great for playing “shadow chasing” with kids, and the single pillar with twelve beams will amaze them with ancient wisdom. The 600-year-old painted wood carvings captivate kids
5⃣️ Taiji Lake: Truly a “Mirror of the Sky” like Qinghai Lake! Blue sky and white clouds reflect in the water. Take a boat ride with kids, who will excitedly point out clouds in the water—super healing
⚠️|【Tips for Traveling with Kids】
▪️Want to see the sea of clouds and mist? Get up early, you’re likely to catch it~ Wudang Mountain’s scenery changes with the seasons, so visiting with kids at different times offers new experiences
▪️Wudang Mountain is a “World Cultural Heritage” site, full of cultural relics! Teach kids in advance to cherish and not to scribble or damage anything
▪️Definitely rent audio guides! Explain history and culture to kids as you explore, so they understand better and gain knowledge
▪️The Qingdao Trail is flat but the scenery is average, suitable for younger kids; Mingdao Trail is steep but has more attractions, school-age kids can challenge it—remember to have kids wear comfortable sneakers
