The Guangnan Babao Scenic Area is located in Guangnan County in southeastern Yunnan, 160 kilometers from Wenshan. Dominated by peak clusters, peak forests, and karst waterfalls, it comprises four areas: Babao, Heye, Tangna Cave, and Sanla Waterfall, covering a total area of 68 square kilometers.
Karst peaks are generally 50-100 meters high and have a pointed cone shape. A small number of isolated peaks, less than 50 meters high, also develop in the center of the basin. Babao is traversed by 25 rivers, large and small. The Babao River, which originates from Hemei Lake, flows slowly from south to north, its waters crystal clear. The 6.5-kilometer section from the river to Bajia, where you can take a boat, is particularly scenic, with its intertwined mountains and rivers, villages, and farmhouses, earning it the nickname "Little Guilin."
The subtropical monsoon climate offers mild winters and mild summers, with cool, dry weather and warm, rainy weather coexisting in the same seasons. The annual temperature difference is small, and the oceanic climate is more pronounced, with spring temperatures higher than autumn. It is suitable for travel in all four seasons.
