Danzhai Mercury Mine: A Generation's Memory

Because a relative worked at Danzhai Mercury Mine in the last century, I have always been curious about that era and wanted to experience it for myself. During the National Day holiday, I finally had time after returning from Xingyi, so I drove alone into the depths of the mountains...
The Danzhai Mercury Mine Industrial Site is located in Longquan Town and the southern part of Yangwu Township, Danzhai County, Guizhou Province.
The Danzhai Mercury Mine Industrial Site is located in a valley with a north-south mountain range and steep terrain. There is no large surface water in the site, but the Yangwu River flows from northwest to southeast through the site into the Sandu Shui Autonomous County and joins the Duliu River system, providing abundant water resources. The geology consists of gray to dark gray thin-layered argillaceous limestone, argillaceous and silty banded dolomite, dolomitic siltstone, and breccia-like thin-layered green rock. Most of the flat land, roads, playgrounds, and walkways in the Danzhai Mercury Mine Industrial Site are cement-hardened, with plane trees and poplars planted along the roadsides. The environment is quiet, with beautiful mountains and rivers, and the buildings and structures are well-preserved.
At the Danzhai Mercury Mine Industrial Site, you can see the Lengfan Factory, Sixiang Factory, Soviet Expert Building, Soviet-style brick and wood hospital, smelting workshop, chemical workshop, power workshop...
Experience: Walking into the factory, you can imagine the bustling development scene of the time, combined with the TV dramas you have seen before. On the day I visited, several groups of people came to visit, including older people, middle-aged people like me, and young people who looked like college students. I think this is a kind of inheritance!
Other: I used Gaode Maps, which kept telling me to turn right after reaching a nearby village, directing me to a small road leading to a group of houses. In fact, you should keep going along the main road (a rural asphalt road) and go down the mountain to the bottom of the valley. Gaode Maps should be corrected.
