Introducing Tianfei Palace

Tianfei Palace, located on Miaoqian Street in Dongshi, Liuhe Town, is a Taoist temple and a significant historical relic of the Ming Dynasty navigator Zheng He's voyages to the West. Initially built in 1286 AD, during the 23rd year of the Yuan Dynasty (1144-1186), during the Yongle reign of the Ming Dynasty, Zheng He would burn incense here before setting sail from Liujiagang on his voyages to the West, praying to the Sea Goddess for safe voyages. He also personally erected a "Monument to His Achievements in Foreign Trade" here after completing his seventh voyage.

The front of the palace features a screen wall, mountain gate, bell tower, and drum tower. Entering the palace, you'll find the main hall, rear hall, and Taoist temples. The main hall, majestic and meticulously constructed, originally housed a statue of Mazu, along with a series of plaques and hanging lanterns. To the left and right of the palace are the City God Temple, Wenchang Pavilion, Wulu Hall, and Sanguan Pavilion. The entire complex is framed by the Golden Hook and Jade Belt rivers to the east and west, creating a picturesque scene. Later, due to war and human suffering, most of the halls were abandoned. In May 1992, it was officially opened to the public as a venue for Taoist activities. It is now a protected cultural relic in Jiangsu Province.
