If you’re not up for the strenuous hike to Milk Lake (牛奶海) or Five-Color Lake (五色海) in Daocheng Yading, don’t worry — Gongga Lake (贡嘎错) is a stunning alternative that’s much easier to reach.

I trekked from Luorong Pasture (洛绒牛场) to Gongga Lake — a relatively easy and peaceful walk through alpine grasslands, with towering peaks in the distance. The lake itself sits quietly at the foot of snow mountains, a perfect mirror on windless days.

🌬️ While Milk Lake is still majestic, Gongga Lake offers a tranquil charm without the intense altitude climb. Perfect if you’re short on time, not fully acclimatized, or just want a more relaxed experience.

📍Tip: Bring a light jacket even in summer — the wind can still bite at 4,000m!
