
Luotianyan is located in Zhalin Village, on the south bank of Gongjiang River in Yudu County, Jiangxi Province, along National Highway 323, 1 kilometer from Yudu County. It is a scenic spot with numerous cliff carvings by famous figures throughout history, and boasts stunning scenery, including verdant mountains and clear waters. Developed during the Southern and Northern Dynasties, it gained fame during the Northern Song Dynasty, when the Huayan Zen Monastery was established. It is also the site where the renowned poem "On the Love of the Lotus" was published.
For thousands of years, numerous renowned scholars, civil servants, military commanders, poets, and tourists have flocked here to admire the scenic beauty, build homes, and discuss philosophy. The 2.5-kilometer-long cliffs bear over 100 inscriptions by figures from the Tang and Song dynasties, including Yue Fei, Wen Tianxiang, Zhu Xi, Bada Shanren, Wang Maode, Wang Yangming, and Luo Hongxian, as well as over 80 poems and essays dedicated to Luotian Rock.
Here you can find the cliff inscriptions of Zhou Dunyi, a famous philosopher and thinker in the Northern Song Dynasty, the founder of Taoism and Neo-Confucianism who influenced the history of Chinese thought for eight or nine hundred years, as well as his lecture and memorial sites "Lianxi Academy" and "Lianxi Pavilion"; thousand-year-old cypress trees, the thousand-year-old temple at Luotian Rock, Loumi Rock, Yuyang Yilan, Dijian Pavilion, Woyun Pavilion, Gaoshan Yangzhi Pavilion, Juran Pavilion, Wangxu Pavilion, statues of Zhou Dunyi and Yue Fei, tunnels, leisure places, entertainment activities, and the surrounding areas are also Guancai Village and Tongxin Rock with unique landscapes, like a paradise on earth.
