Review of Kamado Jigoku from Dazaifu

After spending a day in Dazaifu, a small town near Fukuoka, I sought out a unique experience: **Kamado Jigoku** (釜地獄, Kamado Jigoku). While the name itself evokes a sense of unease, it's actually a mystical hot spring zone created by nature.

Upon entering, hot steam rose everywhere, and the boiling water and smoke from the ground created a mystical landscape. Each small pond contained a slightly different color of hot spring water, and simply watching the water change from red to blue to white was truly captivating. Information boards placed throughout the area provided helpful explanations of the geology, history, and geothermal activity of the hot springs, making it feel like visiting a natural science museum.

The most memorable part was being able to take photos up close of the steam rising from the hot springs and experience the natural heat while walking around the small ponds. The unique atmosphere, a mixture of smoke and the scent of hot springs, actually added to the tension and excitement of the trip.

Unlike the tranquil atmosphere of Dazaifu, Kamado Jigoku was a vibrant space where you could directly experience the power of nature. With a variety of souvenirs made with hot spring water, it was a great destination where you could experience both nature and culture.
