Yubeng Village: A Secret Journey in the Hiking Paradise

Yubeng Village, a hidden gem deep within the Meili Snow Mountain range, is a paradise for hiking enthusiasts. With no roads leading in, access is only possible by foot or mule. Starting from Xidang Village, the trail crosses the 3,700-meter-high Nanzong Pass, winding through pristine forests over a roughly 17-kilometer journey. Though challenging, the route offers breathtaking scenery at every turn.

The village is divided into Upper Yubeng and Lower Yubeng. Upper Yubeng leads to the Ice Lake and Xiaonong Base Camp, while Lower Yubeng connects to the Sacred Waterfall. The Ice Lake, one of Yubeng's classic hiking routes, sits at an elevation of about 3,800 meters. Formed by glacial meltwater from Meili Snow Mountain, its emerald-green waters are surrounded by snow-capped peaks, creating a stunning landscape. The Sacred Waterfall is a pilgrimage site for Tibetan Buddhists, where visitors traditionally walk clockwise around the cascading falls three times for blessings.

Beyond hiking, Yubeng offers rich Tibetan cultural experiences. The village's traditional Tibetan homes feature rustic charm, adorned with thangka paintings and prayer flags. Here, you can savor local delicacies like butter tea and tsampa while experiencing the warm hospitality of the Tibetan people.
