Chasing dawn at Feilai Monastery is a legendary Deqin experience: the famed “first ray of light” warming Meili Snow Mountain’s sacred peaks. Even if sunrise can be elusive, catching that magical glow is unforgettable—beating the odds turned ours into a memory for the ages!

🧭 Route & Must-Do:
Start early (before 6:30 AM!) to claim a front-row spot on the viewing deck within Feilai Temple Scenic Area, perfect for the classic panorama—watch the golden sun touch the sprawling white peaks of Meili Snow Mountain. Afterward, explore the peaceful temple, soaking in the ancient prayer flags fluttering against snow-capped backdrops.

📸 Insta-Worthy:
The best photo angle is from the left side of the main viewing platform—frame both the monastery’s facade and Meili’s snowy summit. Wide shots at blue hour are ethereal, and don’t forget a candid snap with the local pilgrims! When the light breaks through, the classic mountain silhouette is unmissable.

🌟 Practical Tips:
Feilai Monastery is open year-round, 8:00–17:00. It gets chilly (and windy!) even in summer, so pack layers and a hot drink. Arrive early for sunrise: there’s still a chance to witness the gold—worth every chilly minute.

⚡ Precautions:
Altitude here is 3,300+ meters; walk slowly if you’re not acclimatized. Don’t rush—soak it in, let the silence and mountain air do their magic. Weather on the peaks changes fast, so keep rain gear and extra camera batteries handy.
