With just a half-day to explore Dezhou, I first visited the Ancient Canal Street, where the blue skies mirrored off the old canal—evoking a moment of quiet reflection, like watching time drift away with the water. But it was Dongzi Garden that truly surprised me. Originally drawn here by admiration for Confucian scholar Dong Zhongshu, I found myself captivated by the serene beauty of the garden. Sculptures, pavilions, willow-lined walkways, and peaceful water scenes at sunset created a tranquil, almost Jiangnan-like vibe—definitely worth the stop.
