A dazzling blue starry gem in Dhaka.
Amid the hustle and bustle of Dhaka, there lies a magical mosque that seems as if stars have descended upon it. The "Star Mosque (Tara Masjid)" is adorned with star-shaped tiles, showcasing the unique decorative beauty of Bangladesh. The combination of white and blue creates a stunning space that feels like a fusion of Islamic architecture and Asian aesthetics.
Though small in size, the mosque is meticulously decorated with tiles on its exterior walls, ceiling, and floors, making it a great spot for photography enthusiasts. If you visit during less crowded hours, you can quietly appreciate its architectural beauty.
📍 Access: Located in the Lakkhan Bazaar area of Old Dhaka (Simply tell a local rickshaw driver "Tara Masjid" and they will understand.)
💰 Admission: Free (Donations are welcome)
⏰ Opening Hours: From daytime to evening (Note that visits may not be allowed during prayer times.)
🧕 Dress Code for Visitors:
When visiting the mosque, it is essential to wear modest clothing that covers the skin.
- Women are advised to wear long sleeves, long skirts, and cover their heads with a scarf or similar.
- Men should avoid sleeveless tops and shorts, opting for more subdued attire.
Additionally, you will need to remove your shoes inside the mosque, so wearing easily removable footwear is recommended.
The staff and worshippers were kind enough to say, "Feel free to take photos inside," creating a welcoming atmosphere. Surrounded by the sacred ambiance, I lost track of time while enjoying the experience.
The mosque's vibrant tile decorations are a testament to Dhaka's history and craftsmanship. This small gem of a place is free to visit and offers a quiet sense of awe. It's perfect for those seeking a spot of serene inspiration.
