📍Getting There
Dhiffushi Island is a beautiful local island in the Maldives, located just 36 kilometers northeast of Malé, the capital. Travelers can reach the island in two ways:
🔹️Local Ferry: The most budget-friendly option, taking approximately 1.5 to 2 hours from Malé. It's a great choice for those wanting to travel like the locals and enjoy the scenic ride.
🔹️Speedboat Transfer: A faster but more expensive alternative, taking around 35 to 45 minutes. It’s
ideal for those looking for comfort and saving time.
🏘Where We Stayed
▪︎ During our stay on Dhiffushi Island, we chose Villa Nirili, a charming and affordable guesthouse that offered a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful, providing us with snorkeling and diving equipment so we could explore the colorful marine life just off the beach. We also had the option to enjoy our meals right at the guesthouse — simple, tasty dishes served in a relaxed setting.
▪︎ If you're looking for something a bit more upscale, we recommend Stone Dhiffushi Hotel. This is a more luxurious and modern option on the island, perfect for travelers who prefer added comfort, upgraded amenities, and a more refined experience. Though more expensive, it’s a great choice for couples, honeymooners, or anyone celebrating a special occasion while still enjoying the authentic atmosphere of a local Maldivian island.
🍲 Dining on the Island
While we enjoyed some of our meals at Villa Nirili, we also wanted to experience more of the local food scene. Dhiffushi has several great restaurants:
• The Kettle – A charming spot with delicious local and international dishes, perfect for a casual lunch or dinner.
• Ranauraa Caffe & Resto – Another favorite, known for its friendly atmosphere and fresh seafood options.
Trying different places allowed us to taste the local flavors and get a feel for island life.
🏝 Experiencing the Local Vibe
We tried to embrace the local lifestyle — from tasting traditional dishes to enjoying slow island walks among the friendly locals. One of the highlights was simply taking in the natural beauty: stunning sunrises over the ocean and colorful sunsets that painted the sky. Dhiffushi has a peaceful, authentic charm that makes it easy to disconnect and truly relax.
