This mountain in Dongguan—you won't know how worthwhile it is until you climb it!

Hiking in the forest, breathing in the fresh air, getting close to nature—it's incredibly relaxing and stress-relieving!

Today, I'm recommending a hidden gem of a hiking route in the Dongguan forest—Shidong Chenglou in Dalingshan Forest Park.

It's super close to the city center, just a half-hour drive away. Not only does it have pristine ancient forest trails, but there's also a 3-kilometer-long stream where you can play in the water and catch shrimp. The key is that the entire route is shaded, and it's mostly a gentle uphill climb. I come here several times a year; I'm practically addicted!

The mountain isn't very high, just 530 meters. A leisurely two-hour climb will get you to the top. The sunset view from the summit is breathtaking! There's also a tea garden, which is especially therapeutic. Coming here on the weekend to breathe in the fresh air and relax, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, is simply perfect!

📍 The address is Shidong Chenglou, Dalingshan Forest Park, Dongguan City. Admission is free!

However, since the trailhead is halfway up the mountain, there's no direct bus, and getting a taxi down the mountain isn't convenient, so driving is the most reliable option. There's a free parking lot just 100 meters down from Guanyin Temple, super convenient!

**Hiking Guide:**

Navigate to "Dalingshan Forest Park - Shidong Chenglou." You'll find the trailhead on the left side of Guanyin Temple. Less than 20 meters in, there's a fork in the road. I recommend taking the right path, which is half stream and half boardwalk, cool and perfect for playing in the water. The left path is mostly stairs and feels like stepping into a green wonderland.

**Tips:**

* Don't forget to bring some snacks and water. There's nowhere to buy them on the mountain, or you can grab something at the small shop at the trailhead.

* You can also visit the nearby Guanyin Temple. The yellow-tiled and red-walled buildings are very distinctive. You can burn incense, pray for blessings, and have a vegetarian meal. There's also an elevator in the temple that goes straight to the top floor, offering spectacular views. It's definitely worth a visit!

This mountain in Dongguan is truly not to be missed!
