🏛 History & Architecture
• Built during the Guangxi Dynasty in 1878 (1878 AD), the original name was 普济桥 (Puji Bridge), built from the remaining budget for the restoration of the irrigation systems of Suizhou Duan, Dingbaozhen and Lugaobu.
• The bridge has been damaged many times by floods and wars, such as in 1925, 1933, 1958, but has been restored many times until it became “南桥 (Nanqiao)”.

🎭 Current feel & atmosphere
• Corridor bridge or covered walkway with wood carvings and murals. At night, it is lit up with “✨“Blue Tears”” or reflections from the water. It gives a very romantic and beautiful feel at night.
• It is a popular place to take pictures, becoming a “water pavilion” or “water painting building” on the water.

• Located on the inner river of 岷江 (Minjiang), near the water outlet called 宝瓶口 (Baopingkou), about 1,000 meters from the main area of 都江堰
• No admission fee, open for walking both day and night There are teahouses or street food stalls nearby.

🚗 How to get from Chengdu to Nanqiao

1. High-speed rail (recommended)
• Take the Chengdu–Dujiangyan intercity railway line from Chengdu Station or Xipu Station (take Metro line 2/6) and get off at Dujiangyan Station or Lidui Park Station.
• Xipu → Lidui Park, 20–25 minutes, cost ~10–15¥
• Then take bus number 4 or a short taxi to Nanqiao Bridge a few hundred meters away.

Nanqiao Bridge in 都江堰 is a beautiful and unique Chinese 廊式 bridge from the late Qing Dynasty, built to solve the problem of crossing the river. With its luxurious architecture of carved wood, painted ceilings and swallowtail tile roofs, it feels like a “water pavilion in the middle of the river”. Every step has a historical story. At night until late, the bridge still shines with a cool blue light, creating a romantic atmosphere. It is a great place to take pictures both day and night.
