Dragon Boat Festival Trip to Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring

Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring Scenic Area, often referred to simply as Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring, is located 5 kilometers south of Dunhuang City in Jiuquan, Gansu Province. Covering an area of 76.82 square kilometers, the core scenic area spans 12.79 square kilometers. Known for its unique desert spectacle where mountains and springs coexist, and sand and water harmonize, it is celebrated as one of the most extraordinary sights beyond the Great Wall.

Mingsha Mountain is formed by accumulated drifting sand. From a distance, the undulating sand dunes stretch endlessly, showcasing a majestic and grand landscape. The mountain gets its name from the melodious sound produced by the wind blowing through the sand. The sand dunes extend for tens of kilometers, with the main peak reaching hundreds of meters high, presenting a golden arc-like shape.

Crescent Spring lies at the foot of Mingsha Mountain, nestled among the sand dunes. Due to its unique terrain, when the wind blows, the sand flows upward rather than downward, ensuring that the spring is never buried by sand. It is often referred to as the "Eye of the Desert." Surrounded by Mingsha Mountain, Crescent Spring quietly rests in the desert. The spring, shaped like a crescent moon, is about 100 meters long from east to west, 25 meters wide from north to south, and approximately 5 meters deep. Its crystal-clear waters ripple gently, creating a stark contrast with the surrounding golden sands, exuding a sense of tranquility and mystery.

😎😎 If you're traveling to Gansu during the Dragon Boat Festival, don't miss this breathtaking destination. It will surely leave you in awe! ✌️
