Dunhuang's afterglow is too strong! Still reminiscing a week after returning

When camel bells pierce through Mogao Grottoes' cliffs
Time solidifies into dazzling murals here
Desert and oasis coexist
Desolation and prosperity stand side by side
·
Here lies both the eternal romance of Crescent Moon Spring amid sand mountains
And the desolate poetry of Yangguan and Yumen Passes
I think it's this collision of roughness and refinement
That made me remember Dunhuang forever

🏞️Dunhuang Attractions
1⃣️Dunhuang Museum
Unlock Dunhuang's millennium history for free. The replica of Cave 45 is clearer than the original - you'll understand Mogao Grottoes instantly after visiting
2⃣️Singing Sand Mountain
Ride camels along the dunes, listening to camel bells as if transported back a thousand years. Sit on the sand at dusk watching sunset paint the desert gold-red, maybe catch a desert concert
3⃣️Dunhuang Silk Road Heritage City
Features reconstructed buildings along the Silk Road. Persian domes and Chinese eaves blend perfectly here. Few crowds mean great architectural photography without messy backgrounds
4⃣️Boundless
White structures near "Child of the Earth" with flowing lines like silk. Sunlight creates dreamy shadows inside - feels like entering another dimension
5⃣️Yardang Geological Park
The wind-eroded "Devil City" landscape is breathtaking! Wind-carved mounds resemble sphinxes and warships. Lucky to catch sunset on the swing here
6⃣️Child of the Earth Sculpture
Giant baby sculpture lying in desert with incredibly realistic skin texture, like a sleeping angel creating stark contrast with vast desert
7⃣️Dunhuang Ancient City
Filming location for "New Dragon Gate Inn." The pseudo-ancient buildings exude Western Region charm - city gates, shops and taverns full of martial arts atmosphere
8⃣️Shangyuan Market
Dunhuang's vibrant street life! Fresh donkey meat noodles with sauce, sizzling red willow kebabs, plus chilled apricot skin drink to cut the grease
9⃣️Yangguan Scenic Area
"Drink one more cup, west of Yangguan you'll find no old friends" - the original site! Wind seems to carry ancient camel bells

In Dunhuang, "Dynamic Dunhuang" is a must-see! Visuals are absolutely worth it. I first visited the cultural space's replica of Mogao Cave 736 on 2nd floor, already moved by Dunhuang's beauty
Entering theater felt like stepping into millennium-old culture. Following Western Region youth Bai Xin in Zone A, experiencing Silk Road sandstorms and his confusion
In Zone B, murals came alive - wrathful guardians, celestial musicians, their expressions revealing ancient aesthetic pursuits. The artistry overwhelmed me
Zone C's Tang Dynasty splendor dazzled - flying apsaras, ancient melodies. Bai Xin's gaze emphasized cultural inheritance. This soulful dialogue with Dunhuang culture left me utterly enchanted
