[Egypt Travel] Temple of Edfu 🦅The incarnation of the pharaoh is actually quite cute😍

The Temple of Edfu is Egypt's best-preserved and second-largest temple. Located on the west bank of the Nile, it was built during the Ptolemaic period and dedicated to the falcon god Horus. Horus is the sky god and patron saint of the pharaohs in ancient Egyptian mythology. Therefore, the entire temple is not only a religious center but also a symbol of the union of royal power and divinity.

Two colossal statues greet visitors at the temple entrance. The interior is richly decorated, with murals depicting the myth of Horus's victory over the evil god Set. The shrine deep within the temple, though a replica, the original is currently housed in the Louvre Museum in Paris, yet it still exudes a solemn and sacred atmosphere. What's particularly striking is that the falcon god Horus on the shrine, while symbolizing royal power, has a charming and approachable appearance, making it feel approachable.

This visit deeply evokes the ancient Egyptians' reverence for deities and royal power, and also evokes a sense of wonder at their meticulous approach to architecture and art. Standing before the temple, gazing at the statue of Horus, is more than just a glimpse into history; it feels like a dialogue with faith from thousands of years ago. It's a cultural experience that takes you back through time and space, well worth a visit in person.
