During my trip to Bali, one of the unexpected highlights was visiting Penglipuran Village — a quiet, traditional village tucked away in the highlands of Bangli. Far from the beach clubs and scooter chaos, this place felt like stepping into another world: calm, clean, and almost too perfect to be real.

Imagine spotless streets, fresh mountain air, and — wait for it — no motorbike horns. None. Penglipuran is so peaceful and pristine, I felt guilty just unwrapping a snack.

Everything in this village looks like it came straight out of a Wes Anderson movie. The houses? Uniform and beautifully designed. The gardens? Immaculate. The locals? So warm and welcoming, they’ll make you question every awkward customer service moment you’ve ever had.

And yes — no cars or motorbikes are allowed inside the village. You can actually hear your own footsteps. I almost cried from the silence.

We wandered through a serene bamboo forest (which looks suspiciously like something from a panda nature doc), peeked into traditional Balinese homes, and tasted homemade snacks that made me consider asking if they had a guest room available... for the next year.

It wasn’t just sightseeing — it felt like Bali gave me a big, quiet, cultural hug.
