UK Road Trip Day 9: York - Tynemouth - Edinburgh

After breakfast, continue your city walk in York. Visit York Museum Gardens, Clifford's Tower, York City Walls, and the National Railway Museum.
The drive from York to Edinburgh takes 4 hours. Choose a lesser-known attraction at the midpoint. Tynemouth was a pleasant surprise. The castle by the sea is well-preserved, the beach below the castle is bustling, and the commercial street in front of the castle is lively. It was hard to find a parking space. Summer is a popular time for vacations in the UK, so crowds are common.
Continue north and arrive in Edinburgh at dinner time. Check in to The Scott, a very satisfying choice. I'll share more in the next post.
In summer, the sun sets very late in the UK. To watch the sunset from Calton Hill, make a reservation at Howies Restaurant at the foot of the hill. After dinner, take a walk up the hill and arrive just in time for the sunset 🌄. A perfect day!
