Ephesus is an ancient Greek city that was once prosperous and the second largest city in the Roman Empire after the capital, Rome. In 2015, UNESCO registered Ephesus as a World Heritage Site. This ancient city is an important tourist attraction and one of the most popular in Turkey.
Although this place is left in ruins, it was once an important port city, a gateway for trade with merchants from Asia, Rome, and a center for politicians and philosophers in ancient times.
Within the vast area of Ephesus, there are many important buildings, such as a bathhouse, an ancient theater, and the Celsus Library, which is considered the best architecture at that time and is the third largest library in the world. Unfortunately, the great Celsus Library was burned by the Goths. The documents and the building are now only the front of the building. There are also many other interesting places to worship gods and other things.
