In the late Eastern Han Dynasty, the country was in chaos. The Sun family from Fuchun, Zhejiang, gradually became a powerful political and military group under the leadership of Sun Jian, Sun Ce, and Sun Quan, and their power continued to expand to the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. In 221 AD, Sun Quan went to E County (now Ezhou) and changed E to Wuchang, meaning "prosperity through force," with the ambition of conquering the world. In the same year, he was crowned King of Wu. During the period of Sun Wu in Ezhou, the economy was vigorously developed, military strength was strengthened, and foreign exchanges were carried out, making it one of the most important political, military, economic, and cultural centers during the Three Kingdoms period.
