Florence, a city where just walking becomes art

#July Travel Support Fund

Florence was beautiful enough without doing anything. Before I even picked up the camera, every scene before my eyes was already like a painting, and rather than moving around hecticly, I just wanted to slowly surrender to the rhythm of this city.

When I first saw the Duomo, it took my breath away. During the day, it sparkled in the sunlight, and in the evening, it showed a different atmosphere against the backdrop of the red sky. The red rooftops of the city and the Arno River seen from the dome were a sight that needed no explanation.

At the Uffizi Gallery, I stood in front of Botticelli's 'Spring' for a long time. The gorgeous colors and delicate expressions seemed to be alive, and I immediately understood why this city is a 'city of art'. It felt like I was entering a story rather than viewing it.

Florence, seen from across the Ponte Vecchio at sunset, was the quietest and most profound of the day. The lights of the jewelry stores on the bridge, the long sunset over the river, and even the silence of that moment are all vividly remembered.

Florence was a good city to just stay in without the compulsion to ‘see this place’. Even if you just pass by for a moment, it stays somewhere in your heart for a long time. Florence is that kind of city.
