✅ What is Long Bar?
"Long Bar" is a historic bar located inside Singapore’s prestigious Raffles Hotel.
It is world-famous as the birthplace of the cocktail “Singapore Sling.” In the early 1900s, when women couldn’t openly drink at bars, this cocktail was created with a fruity and elegant appearance.
✅ Atmosphere inside the bar
The interior truly reflects the “elegance of the colonial era.”
High ceilings with rotating ceiling fans, wood-toned decor, and soft light streaming through the windows create a relaxed and timeless atmosphere.
What’s most unique is the peanut shells scattered all over the floor!
This is one of Long Bar’s specialties, where it’s perfectly fine to throw your peanut shells on the floor after eating. First-timers might be surprised, but it’s actually quite fun.
✅ Ordering the Singapore Sling
Since I was here, I ordered the signature cocktail, the “Singapore Sling.”
The price is a bit steep at about 35 Singapore dollars per glass ><
The vibrant pink cocktail poured into the glass has a sweetness balanced with a rich depth, making it easy to drink. It tasted like a sip of tropical paradise. If you ask for it sweeter, the bartender will happily make it sweeter for you 🎵
✅ Service and crowd situation
The staff are very friendly and seem accustomed to tourists.
During busy times (especially afternoon to evening), there might be a short wait, but generally, no reservation is needed. On weekends, it’s best to come early.
It seemed mostly European visitors come here. But since turnover is quick, I was able to get in within about 15 minutes!
■ Summary
I felt that "Long Bar" is not just a bar, but a place where you can fully enjoy history, atmosphere, and the taste of cocktails! Be sure to visit once as a memorable part of your Singapore trip.
