Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary

#hellohalloween

The Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary (Italian: Duomo di Bolzano; German: Dom Maria Himmelfahrt) is the main church of Bolzano (Bozen), the capital of South Tyrol, Italy. It’s a beautiful Gothic-style cathedral rich in history and art.

Primarily Gothic with some Romanesque elements, the cathedral features a tall bell tower, elegant pointed arches, and stunning stained glass windows.

Situated right on Waltherplatz, the central square of Bolzano, making it easily accessible and a focal point of the old town.

Built in the 12th century and expanded over the centuries, the cathedral reflects the region’s complex history, blending Italian and Tyrolean cultural influences.
