The main peak of Mount Fuji is 3,776 meters above sea level. It is the highest active volcano in Japan and is an isolated mountain range, highlighting its majestic grandeur.

If ordinary people want to set foot on the top of Mount Fuji, they need to apply for it during the climbing season, and the climbing season is only between early July and early September each year. However, the weather in early July is not stable, and there is a high chance of plum rain; and in early September, it may start to snow, so in fact, only July and August are suitable months for climbing. Since it takes about 7-8 hours from the drop-off point to the top of Mount Fuji, and it is easy to have altitude sickness on the mountain, for safety reasons, if you want to successfully reach the top and watch the sunrise on Mount Fuji - Goraiko, it is generally recommended that tourists climb Mount Fuji in the form of two days and one night.

There are 4 routes to the top of Mount Fuji, namely Yoshida Exit, Subashi Exit, Gotemba Exit and Fujinomiya Exit. Since the Yoshida route is the most popular and more suitable for ordinary people to climb, this article will only introduce the Yoshida route.

Yoshida route -
Starting point: Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station (~2300M)
Attractions: Tourist Service Center/Products Hall
In addition to buying souvenirs, there are also special foods in the hall, such as: Mount Fuji curry, Mount Fuji pineapple buns, etc.

Fuji Subaru Line/Fuji Subaru Line
This is the most suitable route for ordinary people to climb Mount Fuji.
Transportation: It takes about 1 hour to take the Fujikyu Bus from Kawaguchiko Station to Fuji Subaru

Fuji Subaru Climbing Trail
It is recommended to arrive at the Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station before noon, start climbing the mountain after lunch, try to reach the mountain house during daytime, and rest early after dinner at the mountain house. Because all climbers sleep in a room that can accommodate more than 100 people, please go to bed as early as possible if you don't want to be disturbed by snoring. Climbers don't have to worry about colliding with people descending the mountain, because the climbing path and the descending path are divided into two independent routes, and most of the huts along the way are on the climbing path.

Summit - Kenbine
Because it is a volcano, the top of Mount Fuji is a circular volcanic crater. The highest point on its edge is Kenbine, and you can find the highest Mount Fuji post office in Japan here, and buy a climbing certificate to prove that you have been to the top of Mount Fuji.

Equipment:
It is recommended that tourists wear appropriate climbing equipment, windproof and waterproof jackets, cold clothes, hiking shoes, hiking backpacks, food and a set of spare clothes to avoid emergencies. In addition, tourists can buy trekking poles at the fifth station before climbing, and pay for stamping the trekking poles at different mountain huts along the way (ranging from 300-600 yen).

Supplies:
Each station on the mountain route has a different mountain hut for climbers to rest and replenish, with hot food, hot drinks, souvenirs, trekking poles, etc. Because all supplies are carried up the mountain by the staff from the fifth station, the higher the price, the more expensive it will be, so you must bring enough cash to the mountain.

Toilets:
There are toilets along the mountain trail, but please note that due to the high cost of water and electricity supply on the mountain, all toilets charge 100-300 yen.

Accommodation:
It is generally recommended that climbers stay in a higher mountain hut overnight. In addition to being able to reach a higher altitude on the first day, they can also walk less distance when climbing to the top of the mountain in the early morning of the second day. The more famous ones are: Bahe Wushao Goraikokan, Bahemo Taizikan, Fenglaikan, Baiyunzhuang, etc. I personally recommend choosing a mountain hut other than Goraikokan. In order to avoid full quota, you must make an online reservation for a mountain hut overnight several months before confirming the itinerary.

Weather:
Affected by the temperature lapse rate, the temperature drops by about 6 degrees for every 1,000 meters of altitude increase in summer, so there is a daily temperature difference of nearly 20 degrees between the top and bottom of the mountain. Even in the summer opening season, the average temperature of Mount Fuji may drop to 0 degrees. In addition, the mountain is very windy, and under the influence of the wind chill effect, the flow of air will take away the body's heat, making the body temperature drop further.

In addition, the ultraviolet rays of Mount Fuji are very strong. In order to avoid overexposure, you must pay attention to taking adequate sun protection measures for the whole body.

Altitude sickness:
It is caused by the fact that the oxygen pressure in the atmosphere in high altitude areas decreases with the increase in altitude. The human body's immediate reaction to the drop in air pressure is generally accelerated heartbeat and breathing, increased blood pressure, and mild headache. And the risk of altitude sickness will not be reduced by regular exercise. In addition to avoiding too fast an ascent when climbing, it is recommended to spend a night at a medium altitude to enhance adaptation.
