Enoshima Shrine originated from a hall built in Iwaya by order of Emperor Kinmei in 552 AD. It is now composed of Hetsunomiya, Nakatsunomiya, and Okutsunomiya. The three shrines are collectively called Enoshima Shrine. Each shrine enshrines a goddess. Legend has it that the three goddesses are three sisters. The most famous thing about the shrine is the White Dragon King Wishing Pond, where everyone must "wash money" when they come. It is said that putting money in a small bamboo basket and washing it in the pond can improve wealth and personal luck.
The town in front of Enoshima Shrine is also a shopping street with hotels, specialty shops, restaurants, etc. You need to walk up the stairs to Enoshima Shrine. If you don’t want to climb the stairs, you can buy tickets and take the escalator to the Enoshima Observatory and the Enoshima Cave. The New Year is definitely worth praying for good luck🧧
