On the third day of my trip, I

On the third day of my trip, I said goodbye to Tokyo for a while and headed to Enoshima by train for about an hour. I took a picture at the Fujisawa Station platform where I arrived to catch the Enoden, the train line to Enoshima.

The two-car Enoden. The Enoden passed through the town at a speed similar to that of a bicycle. The inside of the old train still had a fan, and the outside scenery was lined with low-rise Japanese-style houses without tall buildings, and even the small station with only one ticket gate. I felt like I was time traveling back in time while riding the train.

After about 20 minutes, I arrived at my destination, Enoshima Station. After looking around the small station with only one ticket gate, I went outside and saw a train coming into the railroad crossing in front of the station. Thanks to the slow speed of the Enoden, I was able to take steady pictures with my smartphone camera. The Enoden tram, which uses a single track, has only one track. Except for each station, the up and down lines share the same track. So if an up train and a down train enter the platform at the same time, one of the two trains stops a little longer at the station and lets the train that arrived earlier pass. Nowadays, most railway lines are double-tracked, so the Enoden seems to teach me the beauty of slowness.
