Enoshima Iwaya Cave is a captivating natural wonder located on the southern coast of Enoshima Island, Japan. These sea caves, formed by the relentless force of waves and erosion, offer a unique glimpse into the island’s geological and cultural history. Visitors can explore two main caves: the first cave, which stretches approximately 152 meters and houses a shrine believed to be the origin of Enoshima Shrine, and the second cave, about 56 meters long, featuring a dragon deity at its deepest point. The caves have been a site for spiritual training by historical figures such as Kobo Daishi and Nichiren Shonin, and they offer breathtaking views of Sagami Bay and Mount Fuji. The journey to the caves is equally enchanting, with a red-railed Iwaya Bridge leading to the entrance, providing stunning ocean vistas.
