🍣 Tokyo Food Walk

#Travel Guide ##Tokyo Restaurants #Places to Visit in Tokyo

From sardines to monjayaki, I ate all of Tokyo in one day!

🍚 [1st course] Morning, the taste of the Japanese sea _ Sardines rice bowl

Start your first meal in Tokyo with a light yet deep flavor!
‘Shirasudon (しらす丼)’, or sardines rice bowl, is famous near Enoshima or Kamakura,
but there are quite a few high-quality restaurants in Tokyo.

Recommended areas:
• Near Enoshima Station: Shirasu Bonga (しらす本家)
• Near Kamakura Station: Taishoken (大正軒)

Freshly caught raw sardines or lightly boiled sardines on top of warm rice,
and topped with seaweed flakes, green onions, and ginger, and a single egg yolk!

The moment you mix it, the scent of the sea and the rich flavor fill your mouth.

🐟 TIP: Raw shirasu is only available between April and November!

🐚 [2-course] Lunch is a popular seafood rice bowl in downtown Tokyo _ Tsujihan (つじ半)

The Tsujihan main branch, located in Tokyo Nihonbashi, is known as the ‘king of seafood rice bowls.’
The line starts to get long at 11 o’clock, but the turnover is fast, so you only have to wait 20-30 minutes.

There is only one menu, seafood rice bowl (海鮮丼)
If you choose from extra large, large, or regular,
more than 10 kinds of seafood, including tuna, salmon, sea urchin, salmon roe, sweet shrimp, abalone, and squid, will be piled up like a mountain!

For the finishing touch, there is something called kaisenchazuke,
and after eating half of the rice bowl, pour in the warm dashi soup, wasabi, and tea to finish it off like porridge, which is also a delicacy!

🍵 TIP: If you say “Please give me one more,” you can add rice and refill the chazuke soup.

🍦 [Course 3] Walking along the Enoshima Seaside Road _ A bite of salt ice cream

After eating a lot of seafood and walking around Enoshima,
the dessert you must stop by is ‘Shio Soft Cream (塩ソフトクリーム)’
= salt ice cream!

The taste that combines sweetness and saltiness
is the perfect snack that goes well with the sea.

There is also a pink soft cone that is great for taking pictures, so take a photo that looks good on SNS.

Recommended places:
• Ice cream stand at the entrance of Enoshima Benten Street
• A small cafe in front of the observatory near Enoshima Shrine

🌊 TIP: The best course is to walk to the observatory at the end of the island and come back with an ice cream!

🍳 [4-course] Dinner is Tokyo local food _ Shibuya Monjayaki (もんじゃ焼き)

End the night with Monjayaki, loved by Tokyo locals!
It's like a cousin of Okonomiyaki, but it's a Tokyo-style pancake that's thinner and more smoky.

There are many emotional Monjayaki restaurants in Shibuya,
and the fun of grilling it yourself on an iron plate makes it very popular with travelers.

Recommended restaurants:
• Monja Kura (もんじゃ蔵) - Interior restaurant in a quiet alley in Shibuya
• Asakusa Tsukushi (浅草つくし Shibuya branch) - Authentic style, local feel

Put mochi (rice cake), mentaiko, and cheese on top,
and grill it until it's sizzling, and you'll have a beer!

🍺 TIP: Monjayaki tastes better when it's slightly sticky. Don't worry, just burn it lightly!
