Fukuhiro-Souen Bridge and Nakagawa River: Where Two Cities Meet

#7月好去地方2025
The "Fuku-Hiroki Bridge" (福博であい桥) that spans the Naka River and connects Fukuoka and Hakata is not only a traffic bridge in the city center, but also a landmark that symbolizes the cultural exchange between the two cities and the leisurely rest of the citizens. In the past, the east of the Naka River was "Hakata" where merchants gathered, and the west was "Fukuoka" where samurai and feudal politics were located. Although the two places were separated by a river, they were closely connected by this bridge, which is why it was named "Meeting Bridge".

The bridge is 78.2 meters long and is designed as a walking trail. It is paved with wooden floors and has many benches. Whether it is day or night, it is an excellent place to enjoy the scenery of the Naka River and the urban style. When the weather is fine, you can enjoy the sparkling water and the reflections of the high-rise buildings in Tenjin and Nakasu from the bridge. At night, the bridge lights up together with the "Fukuoka Public Hall VIP Hall" on the opposite bank, creating a warm and romantic atmosphere. Many musicians and performers will also perform impromptu performances here, attracting passers-by to stop and enjoy.

This bridge was also featured in the 2017 popular movie "I Want to Eat Your Pancreas", becoming one of the pilgrimage sites for movie fans. There is a water bus boarding station on one side of the bridge, where tourists can take a boat to cruise along the river and enjoy the unique city style of Fukuoka from the water.
