🧳 Travel Review: Hotel Il Palazzo, Fukuoka
Departure & Arrival First Impressions
I arrived around noon, and check-in was at 4 p.m. The hotel's exterior was unique, and the building's color scheme and design reminded me of a scene from a Wes Anderson film.
I had a bit of a hard time finding the entrance. It's located in an alley, so if you're not familiar with the area, you might wonder, "Am I in the right place?" However, the friendly staff quickly helped me figure it out.
⸻
Room & Facilities
• The room was quite spacious and comfortable by Japanese standards. The bathroom was spacious, and I was pleased to find a room with a marble bathtub.
• Cleanliness exceeded my expectations. The bed sheets, towels, and overall condition of the room were clean. There was no dust or dirtiness at all, and I was able to sleep soundly.
• However, the room was a bit hot, perhaps because the room temperature is centrally controlled. The blankets were thick, which might be uncomfortable for those with sensitive skin.
⸻
Food & Service
• The all-day buffet was really appealing. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner were all included in the price, so it was nice to stay at the hotel when I had some free time. The desserts and bread selection were especially delicious.
• The staff were generally very friendly and spoke English well. I felt they were very accommodating to both Korean and international travelers.
• One thing I found disappointing was that some reviews said the dinner and lunch buffets had repetitive menus. I wish they'd changed the menus more often.
⸻
Location & Accessibility
• It's centrally located between Tenjin and Hakata, so it's easy to access shopping malls, restaurants, bars, and tourist attractions like the Yatai Street. There are plenty of places within walking distance, making it a great place to explore.
• It's a bit of a walk from the subway station and bus stop, which can be a bit challenging with heavy luggage. On rainy days, it's a good idea to plan your route accordingly.
