Fuqing, Fuzhou|Wabi-Sabi Style Boutique Homestay Ceiling

Fuqing, this small city embraced by mountains and waters, hides so many surprises! This time, staying at "Shanju Youshi Bieyuan" completely overturned my imagination of rural homestays—the vinyl record player was playing lazy jazz, the owner wearing a biker helmet personally served hand-brewed coffee, and for breakfast, I even got to eat his brother-in-law’s free-range eggs (the kind with straw stuck to the shells)! This is probably the most eclectic and soulful mountain living experience I’ve ever seen🏍️☕️
🌿 Live inside a landscape painting
• Perfect location: Hidden in Sanxing Village, Dongzhang Town, a 10-minute walk to Lingshi Mountain Scenic Area, with green views right outside the window; after rain, the mist makes you feel like living in an ink wash painting
• Design highlights: A wabi-sabi courtyard renovated from an old house, with rammed earth walls and solid wood furniture, but the bathroom is equipped with a smart toilet! The room is super spacious with a tatami tea room, and the bookshelf surprisingly holds rare comics and vinyl collections
• Hidden gem: The owner’s vintage motorcycle is parked under the plane tree in the courtyard, and you can borrow a helmet as a photo prop (safety first!)
🍳 Rustic flavors with creative twists
• Legendary breakfast: Freshly fried free-range eggs with sweet potato porridge, pickled sour bamboo shoots made by the owner’s wife, and a must-try "brother-in-law brand" tea egg (limited supply)
• Experience activities:
- Picking wild loquats in the back mountain (seasonal)
- Outdoor movie nights + roasted sweet potato evenings
- Board game room with a full set of original Japanese games
• Service details: The front desk provides mosquito repellent and sunscreen, and on rainy days, ginger tea is delivered to the room
📸 Photo guide
1. Morning light courtyard: At 7 AM, sunlight filters through the old persimmon tree, casting light spots on the rammed earth wall
2. Motorcycle corner: The Kawasaki W650 and leather gloves by the wall tell a story
3. Rooftop terrace: Shoot the silhouette of Lingshi Mountain at dusk; drone shots are even more stunning (advance notice required)
🚗 Nearby activities
• Lingshi Mountain Forest Park: A 1-hour hike to Longtan Waterfall
• Dongzhang Ancient Street: 15-minute drive, with Republic of China-era arcade buildings lining the stone-paved road
• Secret spots: Ask the owner for a hand-drawn map marking villagers’ malt sugar workshops and pottery kilns
⚠️ Notes
• Transportation: About 1 hour by taxi from Fuzhou Airport; it’s recommended to book a car through the hotel (cheaper than Didi)
• Essentials: Mosquito repellent + comfortable hiking shoes (the back mountain trails are primitive but beautiful)
• Easter egg: If you hear the vinyl playing "Hotel California," it means the owner is in a good mood and might treat you to a drink🍻
This is probably the least "internet-famous homestay" treasure place—no over-decorated photo sets, but walls full of travel books and a host who can play guitar. Bring an old book to exchange, and you might trigger a hidden storyline~
