Standing in the Minami Boso Quasi-National Park (Ōtsubo Mountain), the 56-meter-tall Tokyo Bay Kannon was built in 1961 by Masue Usami with the vision of world peace. The statue holds a jewel symbolizing prayers for a peaceful world, and its serene face reflects wishes for the happiness of all.
From the top of the statue (the height of the crown), visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of Tokyo Bay. On clear days, Mount Fuji and the sunset are also visible, adding to the beauty of the scenery. Compared to the ground level, the breeze at the top is refreshing and pleasant.
Inside the statue, there is a 324-step spiral staircase leading to the top. As you ascend step by step, akin to life's journey, you can admire the Buddhist statues and the Seven Lucky Gods on each floor while enjoying the views. This experience naturally brings a sense of tranquility and purification to the heart.
