Chasing Fringe at Fuzhou

We stepped into the Three Lanes and Seven Alleys just as the afternoon sun filtered through the lattice of old rooftops, casting patterns of shadow across stone-paved streets 🌞🏘️🍃. The air was rich with the scent of tea, ink, and weathered wood, as if the walls themselves remembered every story whispered through their courtyards. White-walled mansions stood quietly, their carved doorways and intricate windows offering glimpses into Fuzhou’s centuries of merchants, scholars, and poets.
We wandered between narrow alleys where time felt layered boutiques selling silk and porcelain sat beside quiet teahouses, while calligraphy scrolls fluttered softly in shaded corners 📜🍵🎐. Occasionally, the sound of a guzheng drifted from an open window, light and fleeting. Three Lanes and Seven Alleys wasn’t just a historical site it was a living city of memory, where every turn felt like uncovering a forgotten chapter that still breathed within the stones 🚶♀️🕰️🏮.
