Fuzhou, a city with over 2200 years of history, perfectly blends classical gardens with modern urban landscapes. My stay at a hotel near the Wanda Plaza shopping district in Cangshan District allowed me to deeply experience the city's multifaceted charm.
Must-Visit Attractions:
Sanfang Qixiang (Three Lanes and Seven Alleys) is Fuzhou's cultural icon, preserving the most complete Ming and Qing dynasty historical district. The western three lanes (Yijin Lane, Wenru Lane, Guanglu Lane, etc.) intertwine with the eastern seven lanes to form a unique lane and alley layout. Stroll through it, savor authentic fish balls and meat dumplings, and feel the historical charm of century-old houses.
Gushan Scenic Area, Fuzhou's most famous mountain scenic area, boasts the ancient Yongquan Temple and over 600 cliff carvings known as the "Southeast Stele Forest." Take the cable car to the top of Baiyun Mountain for panoramic views of the city and the Minjiang River.
A night cruise on the Minjiang River is a must-do. The cruise ship travels along the river, with the banks ablaze with lights. The night view of Jiefang Bridge and Zhongzhou Island is breathtaking, showcasing Fuzhou's unique riverside charm.
Cultural Experiences: The Fujian Provincial Museum, located within West Lake Park, boasts a rich collection. Among its treasures are silk garments unearthed from the Southern Song Dynasty tomb of Huang Sheng and Shoushan stone carvings. Opening hours are Tuesday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with extended hours until 8:00 PM on weekends.
Accommodation and Transportation: Hotels near Cangshan Wanda Plaza enjoy excellent locations, close to Metro Line 1 and approximately a 40-minute drive from Fuzhou Changle International Airport. The surrounding area is bustling with shopping and dining options, making it an ideal choice for both business and leisure travel.
Fuzhou, a city you won't want to leave once you've arrived! Looking forward to my next visit!
