Architecture and the Black Bamboo (Ojuk) Grove

#hellohalloween
The architecture of Ojukheon House itself is a major draw: it is one of the oldest preserved traditional wooden residential buildings in Korea (designated Treasure No. 165), dating back to the early 16th century. The house is named Ojukheon after the unique black bamboo (ojuk) grove that surrounds it. This dark, dense bamboo creates a striking visual contrast with the simple, traditional wooden structures and provides a cool, serene atmosphere. The presence of the Mongryongsil (where Yulgok was born) and the adjacent Munseongsa shrine enhances the reverence felt within this unique environmental setting.
