Because of a documentary, a gentleman came to Gaoyou. "Some say stories are like telling about oneself, some say oneself is like a story." — Wang Zengqi
With nothing to do one evening, I watched a fresh history documentary and reread "The Taste of Life," a gift from a friend on my birthday two years ago. I have always liked Wang Zengqi's writing, so I decided to take a spontaneous trip... Looking back seems to extend life...
If you also arrive in Gaoyou at noon, you can check out my little guide!!
First, go to Huifu Jinling Hotel near the high-speed rail station to check in. The wait time for Bus No. 5 is too long, so take a taxi to Zhenguo Temple.
If you head to Yunhe Second Bridge, you can see the stunning sunset over Gaoyou Lake. It’s about a 30-minute walk from there.
Then take a taxi to Good Neighbor Food Stall. (This place has a wait if you arrive late.) After dinner, you can walk back to the hotel.
The next day, I originally wanted to have morning tea at Zhang Ji Restaurant but was afraid of queues delaying the schedule, so I went to the attractions first.
Take the bus to Guwen Youtai (bring some snacks as there are no dining options nearby).
Then walk from East Street to the Wang Zengqi Memorial Hall (there are soft and fragrant sesame seed cakes sold on East Street).
Next, walk to Tongxing Pawnshop. After that, take a taxi to the Memorial Hall of the Last Battle of the War of Resistance.
The biggest regret was finding Xiaoliuzi Dumpling and Noodle Restaurant closed, so I went to Jiaojia Alley Noodle Restaurant instead.
After a full meal, head to South Gate Street; at the end is Yucheng Post Station. After exploring, you can go further inside to visit the China Philatelist Museum.
A perfect day ends here, and finally, take a taxi back to the high-speed rail station to leave.
