The Sui and Tang City Ruins Botanical Garden, established in December 2005, is located within the ruins of the Sui and Tang Dynasty city of Luoyang. Based on the zonal flora of western Henan Province and the culture of the Sui and Tang Dynasty city ruins, the garden adheres to a combination of scientific conservation and rational utilization, serving as a vital venue for sightseeing, flower viewing, and leisure activities for both tourists and residents.
The park boasts 17 specialized gardens, including the Thousand-Character Peony Garden, the Wild Waterscape Garden, the Magnolia and Jade Garden, the Hundred Herb Garden, the Plum Garden, the Bamboo Garden, and the Osmanthus Garden, housing over 2,000 plant species. The Thousand-Character Peony Garden, comprised of the Hundred-Character Garden, the Nine-Color Garden, the Specialty Garden, and the Science and Technology Demonstration Garden, boasts over 270,000 peonies, representing 1,200 varieties across nine color palettes. Furthermore, through artistic techniques such as stone placement and garden ornaments, coupled with couplets and carvings, poems and allusions praising Luoyang peonies are fully displayed, enriching the cultural heritage of the peony.
