Eobi Ice Valley, located in Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, is a picturesque natural attraction renowned for its stunning ice formations during winter. The valley is situated at the base of Eobi Mountain, nestled between Mount Yongmun and Mount Yumyeong. Its name, “Eobi” (어비), translates to “flying fish,” inspired by the clear waters where fish were once seen leaping energetically.
In winter, Eobi Ice Valley transforms into a mesmerizing landscape featuring a 25-meter-high natural ice wall near the palgakjeong pavilion, offering visitors a breathtaking spectacle reminiscent of an ice palace.
The valley is approximately a 90-minute drive from Seoul, making it a convenient destination for a day trip. Many tour operators offer packages that include visits to Eobi Ice Valley alongside other nearby attractions such as Nami Island, the Garden of Morning Calm, and Petite France.
If you’re planning a visit, it’s advisable to check the availability of tours and the condition of the ice formations, as they can vary depending on weather conditions. Additionally, wearing appropriate winter clothing and footwear is recommended to ensure a comfortable experience.
