The oldest church in Penang - The Assumption Church

The Church of the Asumption is a Roman Catholic church located in George Town, Penang, Malaysia. It is the first Roman Catholic church in the northern region of Malaysia and the first church built by the British after they landed in Penang.
Built after the establishment of George Town in 1786, it is the third oldest Catholic church in Malaysia. On August 15, 1786, which was the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Captain Francis Light landed on Penang Island and built a church with his companions and named it the Assumption Church.
The interior is not too fancy but functional, and the organ in the church is beautiful. The altar and the stained glass windows behind the altar are not very large, but they are pure white in design, and the statue of the Virgin Mary in the church is the most beautiful.
