Traveling around Gifu without a car

A stroll around Gifu by bus and on foot 🚶♀️

Gifu is just a 20-minute train ride from Nagoya!
Beautiful rivers and nature, retro townscapes, local cuisine, and sake 😆
There are plenty of places to enjoy! 🫢

While Tohoku is often associated with famous sake, Gifu actually has plenty of delicious sake!
The souvenir shop in the station building directly connected to Gifu Station has a wide selection of Gifu sake ✨ You can even sample the sake and choose your favorite! 🎵

First, we took the bus and took a look at the retro townscape 👀
It's not as long as Kawagoe, but it's long enough for a leisurely stroll 👌🏻 There are souvenir shops, sweet shops, and even a restaurant serving tanuki soba, Gifu's soul food!
Gifu is famous for its cormorant fishing, so the nearby river was lined with boats. 🚣♂️✨

A leisurely 20-30 minute stroll will take you to Gifu Castle. 🏯 There are souvenir shops, restaurants, and more around the castle town... perfect for a relaxing break. ◎
You can also take the ropeway to the castle. 👌🏻

Then take a bus to Gifu Station... 🚌
There were plenty of delicious izakayas around Gifu Station! There was a restaurant serving local cuisine inside the station, but this time, I walked a short distance from the station to an izakaya called "Gozarusa." 🏮⋆.*⃝̥◌̥
You can enjoy popular Gifu dishes like the ever-popular Torichan and Hoba-yaki. 🤤 And of course, sake. 🍶

After eating and drinking to your heart's content, you can stay at a hotel near Gifu Station or head back to Nagoya!
Gifu is surprisingly accessible, so be sure to check it out! ✨
