Hidden Gem on the Lake, Kom Monastery Magic

#summervacay Manastir Kom, tucked away near Skadar Lake in the Žabljak Crnojevića area (Cetinje Municipality), totally felt like stepping into a peaceful little time capsule. It’s not the easiest place to get to, you’ll probably need a boat ride across the lake, but honestly, that just adds to the charm. The ride itself? So pretty. Calm waters, lily pads, mountains all around.

The monastery is small, quiet, and seriously old (like 15th century!). It’s surrounded by greenery and totally secluded, which gives it this serene, almost mystical vibe. No crowds, no noise, just nature and history. The stone church, the tiny courtyard, and the view over Skadar Lake made the whole trip feel like a retreat from modern life.

The monks were super chill too, very welcoming. Even if you’re not religious, it’s such a calming spot. Great for a slow day if you wanna unplug and soak in some old world Montenegro. Definitely worth the detour and boat trip.
