Grindelwald First – Cliff Walk, Lakes & Alpine Dream

Grindelwald First is hands-down one of the most spectacular spots in the Jungfrau region. Getting here already feels like an adventure: a 25-minute gondola ride from Grindelwald takes you up past alpine meadows and wooden chalets, with snow-dusted peaks getting closer at every turn. (Tip: if you’re holding a Eurail or Swiss Travel Pass, you can usually get 50% off the cable car ticket.)

At the top station, the first thing you’ll see is the First Cliff Walk by Tissot — a steel walkway hugging the rock face and a glass platform that seems to float in the sky. Walking here is both thrilling and a little nerve-wracking, but the views of the Eiger and surrounding peaks will leave you breathless. On a clear day, it even feels like you’re literally walking in the clouds.

For hikers, the classic route is to Bachalpsee Lake. The trail is well-marked, but don’t be fooled — it’s not just a casual stroll. Expect around 1.5 to 2 hours round-trip depending on your pace. The reward? A picture-perfect alpine lake with mirror reflections of the snow-covered mountains. It’s the kind of spot you’ll want to linger at, picnic in hand.

If you’re into adventure sports, First is also a playground. There’s the First Flyer (a zipline that lets you soar down like a bird), mountain carts and trottibikes for a wild ride back down to Grindelwald, and even paragliding. They’re definitely bucket-list worthy, though admittedly a bit pricey.

K-drama fans might also recognize some of the viewpoints here from “Crash Landing on You” — another reason why this place feels like stepping into a dream.

All in all, Grindelwald First combines thrill, scenery, and Swiss alpine charm in one unforgettable experience. Just remember: bring good shoes, a jacket (it gets chilly up here), and extra time — because you won’t want to rush back down.
